Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Warriors Group

Since the launch of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a wide array of personalities, and a thrilling plot featuring angels, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group consists of Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

With 13 cast members, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

As described by the Dungeon Master, the combat-focused party is for adventurers who are drawn to a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric the cleric might look out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the combat party.

Motivations for Departure

For one thing, the party understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the enemy group.

Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd close behind.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the region and advises that it is a nasty place.
  • The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team access locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Additionally, The fighter swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.

Fugitives

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control Dol-Makjar for a multiple motives, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are known criminals.
  • The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the clan.

This leaves them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in quest for the antagonist.

Upcoming Developments

According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we find out that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight participants to assemble the Explorers and Schemers groups.

Viewers can anticipate learning which characters will be where in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
